Essential Information Record Part 1
The
Essential Information Record Part 1 is part of the Looking
After Children materials which are used to support children
and young people who are looked after. The Essential Information
Record Part 1 provides the information needed immediately
by carers looking after a child or young person. The Essential
Information Record should be completed before any child
or young person is placed with a carer even in an emergency.
Using the Essential Information Record Part 1
Most children and young people who become looked after
are already known to social services so it is helpful for
practitioners to complete as much of the basic details in
the EIR part 1 before the meeting to place the child or
young person.
The EIR part 1 comes in a self-duplicating version so that
information can be shared with carers at the same time as
the child is placed with them, even in an emergency.
