Recording for Foster Carers

Case study 1

Alan Douglas aged 3 years

Alan has been diagnosed with 'moderate autism'. Alan's mother, Karen Douglas, is a single parent and has been struggling to cope for Alan on her own since her husband left eighteen months ago.

Alan has been attending the Disabled Children's Unit at the local hospital and a programme to manage his behaviour has been developed.

To support Karen Social Services have arranged for Alan to receive short break fostering one weekend a month.

1. What written information should you be provided with when Alan is placed with you?

2. What records would you make and keep?
