Recording for Foster Carers

Case study 4

Aisha Nanko aged 4.

Aisha is currently the subject of an Interim Care Order, as a result of concerns that her parents, who both have long-standing mental health difficulties, have neglected her.

Aisha has been looked after for short periods on a voluntary basis on five different occasions. Three of these periods of accommodation were on an emergency basis. The local authority believes that Aisha requires greater stability and is seeking a Care Order with a view to adoption. This plan is opposed by her parents.

Contact is a major issue in this case. Visits take place four times a week and are supervised. Two of the contact sessions take place in your home and are supervised by you.

1 What written information should you be provided with when Aisha is placed with you?

2 What records would you make and keep for Aisha?
